Never underestimate the humor and talent of Jamie Lee Curtis.
During the 2023 SAG Awards on Feb. 26, the actress was visibly thrilled when she won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role thanks to Everything Everywhere All At Once. (For more 2023 SAG Awards winners, click here.)
"I love actors," she shared from the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, Calif. "I love acting. I love the job we get to do. I love being a part of a crew. I love being a part of a cast. I love what we do with each other. It's such a beautiful job."
But during her speech, Jamie Lee also poked fun at the discussion surrounding nepotism in Hollywood.
"My sister Kelly and I were born from love and my father was from Hungary and my mother was from Denmark and they had nothing and they became these monstrous stars in this industry that they loved so much," she said. "My parents were actors and I married an actor."
But before you think Jamie Lee has an advantage in the industry, think again!
"I know you'll look at me and think, ‘Well, nepo baby. That's why she's there' and I totally get it," she said with a laugh. "But the truth of the matter is I'm 64 years old, and this is just amazing."
Jamie Lee went on to lead a chant for her co-star Michelle Yeoh and acknowledged the power of their movie characters.
"For all the Evelyn's and Deirdre in the world," she said. "We love you. We see you. We feel you. We are you. We're here together and God bless you all. What a dream."
